TMB House

Design Narrative

This project is located in one of the resort communities along the Sea. When the project was commissioned, the concrete structural frame and several of the interior walls had already been constructed. Strict regulations within the development significantly limited the possibility of altering the existing internal layout. The design therefore focused on redefining the spatial quality of the house within the constraints of the existing structure.

Despite these limitations, key architectural elements—including a central skylight, fireplace, and central staircase—were introduced to strengthen the internal circulation and establish stronger spatial connections between different areas of the house. The layout was also carefully organized to maximize views towards the sea and the surrounding landscape, making the relationship with the exterior a central aspect of the design.

One of the main ideas behind the project was to blur the boundary between the interior and the surrounding nature. A central skylight and a tree positioned at the heart of the house bring natural light and vegetation deep into the interior, turning nature into an integral part of the living experience. The central void acts as a spatial and visual connector, allowing light, greenery, and air to penetrate the core of the house.

The interior palette combines the warmth of natural wood with the greenery of plants, white surfaces, and abundant natural light. Together, these elements create a warm, calm, and intimate atmosphere. Ultimately, the project seeks to transform the house from an enclosed interior into an extension of its natural surroundings, where architecture and landscape continuously overlap.
